Following the success of Hulu’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People, Conversations with Friends (also by Sally Rooney) has been picked up by Hulu for a limited series adaptation as well. Here’s what we know:
What’s it about? What’s the plot?
From Deadline: “Conversations with Friends follows two female college students in Dublin who forge an unexpected, strange and sexually charged relationship with an older married couple, which results in a complicated pair of love triangles that upends their lives.”
Conversations with Friends was published in July 2017.
What format will it be? Will the Conversations with Friends adaptation be a Movie or a Series?
It’s planned as a 12-episode limited series to air on Hulu.
Who’s behind it?
Hulu has ordered the Conversations with Friends adaptation straight-to-series, which means the entire show will be filmed on the onset (as opposed to starting with a pilot episode and seeing how it goes).
Element Pictures, which produced the Normal People adaptation, will be producing again for Conversations with Friends. Lenny Abrahamson, director of the Normal People adaptation, will step up again as director for Conversations with Friends.
What’s the status of the Conversations with Friends adaptation?
The adaptation is currently early in its development, but has been ordered straight-to-series by Hulu. Given the success of the Normal People adaptation, it’s likely that this is a priority for them so I would expect to see this project move quickly.
Who’s in the cast?
No casting details have been released yet.
When will it be released?
Is there a trailer or teaser available?
Not yet! Stay tuned.
