Best New Books to Read in July 2019

july 2019 summer best books new release reading

Hope everyone’s summer reading is going well. I’m perpetually behind on my list and still trying to catch up on a bunch of new releases, but there’s some great books coming out in July.

Most notably, Colson Whitehead’s The Nickel Boys has been on my wishlist ever since I found out about it. I keep hearing amazing things about it, so I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it. I’ve also never read anything of his, so I feel like I need to cross that off my list.

Also, I’m not very familiar with Silvia Moreno-Garcia, but Gods of Jade and Shadow sounds exactly like the type of book I usually love. Mexican folklore? Mayan gods? An adventure through the jungles of Yucatán!? Sign me up.

I’m thinking those two will be my top priorities for July. See the full list of July reads below!

Which of these books will you be reading in July? (If you’re on a feed reader, click here to view the list.)
