Zombie books are such a fun and interesting mainstay of apocalyptic fiction. Beyond the thriller-esque nature of these stories, they often deal with the collapse of society, managing the spread of a disease and frequently tie in other societal conflicts like governmental control, misinformation, varying responses between countries or class warfare.
Of course, other zombie stories are just in good fun, since what could be more fun than the living dead, right? Anyway, here are 30 of the best zombie books of all time for you to feast your brains on. Happy reading (or researching to prepare for the inevitable zombie apocalypse, whichever the case may be)!

Cool list! I’ve read a few zombie books. I really liked Warm Bodies and Cell. The Forest of Hands and Teeth was pretty creepy too.
thank you, would love to hear if you have any particular favorites that aren’t on this list! :)
No Walking Dead? Kinda Strange as I thought the books which the show was based off of kinda set zombies back on the “cool things” map which started seeing the rise of more zombie novels come out afterwards…
I don’t really cover comic books here — I’ve heard that series is quite good, but I don’t really read comic books (and therefore have very limited knowledge of them) so I generally don’t include them on lists. I know there’s a book series too, but since the original is a comic, I just left it off
Fair enough.
Zombies are my favorite genre in books and television. I recommend the Dread Nation by Justina Ireland series it combines the Civil War with Zombies. I absolutely love it.
ooo thanks for the heads, I don’t know how that got left off the list! I’ve added it in and thank you for dropping me a note! :)
