Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, Book #1 of The Empyrean series, has a TV adaptation from Amazon in the works. For all the details about the Amazon TV series adaptation of the Fourth Wing, here’s what we know:
What’s it about? What’s the plot of Fourth Wing?
Fourth Wing is the first book in Rebecca Yarros’s Empyrean romantasy series set in a dystopian world with dragons and elements of magic and science fiction. Currently, two of the books in the Empyrean series has been released, The Fourth Wing and it’s follow-up the Iron Flame. There are five books currently planned for the series. The first book of the series was released in April 2023.
The series follows its protagonist, Violet Sorrengail, as she enters the brutal Basgiath War College, where she’ll be trained to join an elite group of dragon-riding warriors.

What format will it be? Will the Amazon adaptation be a Movie or a Series?
It’s planned as a multi-season series, covering the five book run. Of course, it remains to be seen if it gets made and how far it gets.
Who’s behind it?
Amazon MGM Studios currently owns the television rights to the Fourth Wing and the other four books in the series. It’s developing the series along with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society.
Author Rebecca Yarros will serve as an executive producer. In an interview with Variety, Yarros discussed the upcoming series:
“But we knew in December [2022] it was going to be Amazon and (Michael B Jordan’s production company) Outlier and I could not be any happier about where it ended up. Outlier is such a great production company and they have a wonderful diversity and inclusion rider, one of the first companies to have them, which is why I was so joyful, because I knew they would respect the diversity of cast.”
What’s the status of the Fourth Wing / Empyrean adaptation?
The adaptation has been in the works since late 2022 and was announced in late 2023. It’s currently in development.
In a panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2024, Rebecca Yarros explained that the delay in announcing the series was out of respect to the writer’s strike: “We were going to announce the television series on release date and the writers went on strike. So naturally, we’re going to support the writer strike and we’re gonna keep our mouth shut, so we so we just had to like hold and wait. And all these people were asking me these questions online [about whether or not it would ever be adapted] that I can’t answer because it has an adaptation. So I’m just over there, like, ‘I’m gonna be quiet!’ and being quiet and being very, very quiet.”
Who’s in the cast?
It’s still early so no casting details have been released yet.
See the full cast (when available) on IMDB.
When will it be released?
Currently unknown.
Is there a trailer or teaser available?
Not yet! Stay tuned.

After watching Bridgerton….Luke Newton would be a fantastic Xaden. He’s got it in him for sure.
Xaden has a darker complexation. Artist, voice actor, and model Toni Mahfud would be a perfect.
I can’t see him as Xaden :(
I can definitely picture Toni as Xaden
respectfully hell no
Danielle Rose Russell as Violet Sorrengail and
either Taylor Zahkar Perez or Matthew Daddario as Xaden Riorson
Wait will there be any TV or movie for fourth wing?
thats literally what the whole article is about
I think if they make this into a tv series it’s gonna be so popular! The books are absolutely amazing!!! I can’t wait for the series!! Just hope they keep it going for a few seasons! I swear every amazing tv show gets canceled and this will be to amazing to be canceled. So so so excited!!!!! ❤️🎉
FOR REAL IM SO EXCITED!!! I really really hope they do xaden justice.
plus all the actors will have to be new-name because the dragons will cost a LOT to cgi
Making a TV series for 5 seasons (over 5 years?).
Violet and Xaden are 18-21 at the start and maybe mid-20s at the end
Casting an actor who is late 20’s plus now means the actor will be mid to late 30s at the end instead of about 25
So then they won’t cast someone in their late 20’s. Problem solved, cast young unknown actors who look even younger. They do it all the time.
They’re 20 / 22. After Resson they talk about birthday
